'Take this seriously': Death threats target Kapil Sharma, Bollywood stars
India's famous comedian Kapil Sharma, along with four other celebrities, has received death threats.
According to Indian media reports, emails have been sent threatening the lives of Sugandha Mishra, choreographer Remo D'Souza, actor Rajpal Yadav, and Kapil Sharma.
An NDTV report stated that the police believe the threats originated from abroad. An FIR has been registered with the Amboli police against an unknown individual under Section 351(3) of the IPC, and investigations have begun.
The police revealed that the email stated: "We are monitoring your recent activities and we believe it is necessary to draw your attention to a sensitive matter."
The email continued, "This is not a publicity stunt or an attempt to harass you, we request you to take this message with utmost seriousness and confidentiality."
The sender signed off the email with the name "Bishno."
According to the police, the email demanded a response from the celebrities within 8 hours, warning of personal and professional consequences.
Comedian Kapil Sharma recently filed a complaint with the police. Before him, Sugandha Mishra and Remo D'Souza had also filed complaints after receiving the same email.
Rajpal Yadav received the email on December 14 last year and filed a complaint with the police on December 17. The email had been sitting in his inbox's spam folder.
In an audio message, Rajpal Yadav told NDTV, "I have filed a complaint with the Amboli police and the cyber crime department, and after that I have not spoken to anyone about it. I am an artist and I want to entertain the audience with my performance, the agencies should look into this matter."
