Ted Lasso is coming back to Apple TV+
It's official! Ted Lasso will be returning. Apple TV+ has confirmed that the Emmy-winning comedy is set for a fourth season, with Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as the endlessly optimistic football coach.
While details regarding the production schedule and full cast remain a mystery, Sudeikis, who is also the executive producer, shared a teaser about the new season in a statement: “As we all continue to navigate a world where many factors condition us to ‘look before we leap,’ in season four, the characters at AFC Richmond will learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, finding that wherever they land, it’s precisely where they are meant to be.”
This enigmatic announcement hints at a season filled with bold choices and unexpected twists for Richmond’s beloved underdogs.
What to Expect in Season 4
The end of Season 3 left fans wondering whether Ted Lasso had played its final game. With Ted returning to the U.S., Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) stepping up as assistant coach, and Richmond’s fate uncertain, the series’ future seemed ambiguous. However, this latest announcement confirms that the story is far from over.
An intriguing possibility emerged during Sudeikis’ recent appearance on the New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce. The actor hinted that Season 4 could see Ted coaching a women's football team, though Apple TV+ has yet to confirm this storyline.
Although the full cast has not been announced, fan-favourite characters like Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Nick Mohammed, and Phil Dunster are expected to return. Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) will also continue as executive producers, with Goldstein remaining a writer. However, it is still unclear whether they will reprise their roles on screen.
A Series That Continues to Shine
Since its release in 2020, Ted Lasso has become one of Apple TV+’s biggest successes, winning over audiences with its heartfelt storytelling and infectious optimism. Over three seasons, the series has earned 13 Emmy Awards and 61 nominations, including two wins for Sudeikis as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Despite its critical and commercial success, the show’s future seemed uncertain after Season 3, with many believing it had reached a fitting end. Now, fans can look forward to more uplifting speeches, comedic locker-room banter, and, of course, Ted’s iconic moustache.
