Meryl Streep has reprised her iconic role as Miranda Priestly in the sequel to the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, and this time a Pakistani brand gets featured in a scene.
Priestley’s character, loosely based on Vogue head Anna Wintour, carries an Accordion bag in Oxblood by the Pakistani label Warp.
The inclusion of the Lahore-based brand brings South Asian craftsmanship into the wardrobe of one of cinema’s most recognizable fashion figures.
The film, which released on May 1, reunites Streep with Anne Hathaway, who returns as Andy Sachs. Hathaway also incorporated the brand into the film’s promotional cycle.
During the press tour, Hathaway was photographed carrying Warp’s black Tobla bag. Styled by Erin Walsh, the actor paired the accessory with a black Schiaparelli dress featuring gold detailing.
The sequel arrives nearly two decades after the original cult classic. Alongside Streep and Hathaway, original cast members Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the screen.
The feature follows a pattern of international figures selecting pieces from the Lahore-based design house.
In October, American performer Doja Cat carried the Hexella Baguette bag to a listening party for her album Vie. Additionally, Pakistani-Canadian actor Iman Vellani, known for Ms. Marvel, opted for a bag from the Hexella collection during the Gold Gala in Los Angeles.
The brand maintains a presence within the local industry as well. Actor Mawra Hocane carried a Warp piece during an appearance in Doha, while Ayeza Khan used the brand during the Ramazan transmission Mehfil e Khas.
Musician and actor Meesha Shafi has also been pictured with the brand’s Accordion bag, the same model featured in the film.
The appearance of the brand in a major Hollywood production marks another milestone for the Pakistani fashion industry on the global stage.
