Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar has criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Junaid Akbar over his recent statements, alleging that they point towards an attempt to create disorder in the country.
In a post on X, Tarar claimed that neither Junaid Akbar nor PTI believed in peaceful demonstrations and instead wanted to pursue a path that could lead to violence and bloodshed.
Tarar said that the government was responsible for protecting citizens, safeguarding their livelihoods and maintaining law and order across the country.
He also described PTI’s protest call as unlawful and said that the government would not allow protesters to block roads or disrupt citizens’ daily activities.
The minister added that authorities will take all necessary steps to maintain public order while ensuring that people could continue their routine activities without unnecessary disruption.
Tarar’s remarks came after Junaid Akbar issued statements about PTI’s planned political activities and protests.
PTI has previously maintained that its demonstrations are part of its constitutional right to peaceful protest and has rejected claims that the party seeks to promote violence or disorder through its political campaigns.
