Model Town police in Burewala city have arrested three trans persons after a video showing the torture and humiliation of a physically-challenged elderly man appeared online.
The incident, which took place in district Vehari, gained traction on social media, prompting immediate police intervention.
District Police Officer (DPO) Tasawar Iqbal took notice of the viral footage which shows three individuals blackening the face of the victim and subjecting him to physical assault.
Following the DPO’s directives, a case was registered, and a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Mahar Qaisar Manzoor apprehended the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohsin, Minahal, and Usman.
Investigations reveal that the victim, Ghazanfar Shoaib, worked as domestic help for the suspects. According to the police, the suspects accused Shoaib of theft and assaulted him.
Local police have confirmed that the suspects targeted Shoaib on suspicion of stealing, leading to the humiliation and physical violence.
The three suspects remain in custody as legal proceedings continue.
