Three young men have been killed and a fourth has been critically injured after a speeding car crashed into a roadside barrier and then a tree during alleged car racing in Lahore’s DHA Phase 6.

The crash took place on a major road in the area when the driver lost control of the vehicle at high speed. The car first struck a security barrier before hitting a tree. The impact destroyed the vehicle.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene after receiving an alert and began rescue operations. Two men died at the scene, while rescuers shifted two others to a nearby hospital. One of the injured men died on the way to the hospital, while the fourth received medical treatment in the emergency ward. Doctors reported his condition as critical.

Rescue and police officials identified the three men who died as Abdul Hannan, 24, Mustafa, 28, and Faizan, 22.

Police and eyewitnesses stated that car racing between two vehicles led to the crash. They said that the driver lost control because of the speed, causing the car to hit the roadside barrier before crashing into the tree.

Police have started an investigation and legal proceedings into the incident. Officials also took custody of the wrecked vehicle and shifted it to a police station.

The Lahore crash follows another road accident in Multan in which five men in their 20s died early Monday after their speeding Toyota Corolla hit a road divider on Bosan Road, struck the wall of a nearby plot and caught fire, rescue officials said.

Police said that all five occupants died at the scene. The crash occurred at around 4am, and a passerby alerted the Rescue 1122 control room at 4:15am.

Rescue 1122 said that all five men suffered severe head injuries. Authorities identified three of the deceased as Muzammil, 23, Yasir, 22, and Ramzan, 28. Officials were still working to establish the identities of the other two men, whose ages they estimated at 24 and 25. All five victims belonged to Shujaabad tehsil of Multan district.
