I have often been asked how my kids are so interested in praying or reciting the Quran and at what age can we start teaching the lessons of Islam. And honestly … there is no magic formula. However, there are steps and actions we can take as Muslim parents to incorporate our beautiful deen into our daily lives and routines so that its rituals and lessons are normalized and become a central part of our household. This post was a difficult one as children aged 4 to 6 are developing at a fast rate but also unique to their own personalities and surroundings. Hence, learning at this age can vary from child to child so don't worry if your child is not able to do something at age 4. Remember this is just a guideline and needs to be applied when YOU feel YOUR child is ready. Observe signs and behaviour and apply these steps accordingly. I have to repeat that there is no magic formula and these are just steps and reminders so our kids grow up with presence and love of Allah in their lives.
