Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has declared Central Business District (CBD) Boulevard off-limits for heavy motorcycles and warned of strict action against violators.

CTO Syed Abdul Rahim said that groups of heavy bike riders frequently gather on the boulevard, where they race, overspeed and generate excessive noise prompting the traffic police to move against them.

He said that an indiscriminate operation will be carried out against those involved in wheelies, dangerous stunts and reckless speeding, particularly on weekend nights. Divisional and circle officers have been directed to personally supervise the operations, with special instructions also issued to night-shift traffic personnel across the city.

Rahim made clear that mob gatherings, road blockades and wheelie stunts will not be tolerated.

He noted that enhanced surveillance and strict enforcement are already in place on CBD Main Boulevard, Defence Main Boulevard and Canal Road.

Officers have also been directed to monitor violations through Safe City cameras, with cases to be registered against anyone caught performing wheelies.

The CTO urged parents to keep a close watch on young riders, cautioning that reckless speeding can prove fatal. Special inspections of heavy motorcycles, he added, will also be conducted to ensure safer roads for all commuters.
