A truck driver set himself on fire at the Sakhi Sarwar Combined Check Post along the Dera Ghazi Khan-Quetta highway following an altercation over police behavior, leading to his death from severe burns.

The driver, identified as Musharraf, poured oil over his body and set himself on fire at the security post on the interprovincial route. Emergency responders initially rushed him to the Teaching Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Medical staff later transferred him to the Burn Unit at Nishtar Hospital in Multan after determining that flames had damaged over 60 percent of his body. He died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Following the death, Musharraf’s family members and local goods transporters gathered at the Sakhi Sarwar check post to block the main highway. Led by goods transporters’ district president Abdul Salam Nasir, the demonstrators placed the driver’s body across the Dera-Quetta Road to stop all incoming and outgoing vehicles.

The blockaded road halted interprovincial traffic between Punjab and Balochistan. Protesters stated they would not clear the route until authorities register a criminal case against the check-post personnel involved in the incident.
