Terrorists attacked a security convoy and a police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, leading to prolonged exchanges of fire with security personnel. The initial ambush occurred in the district of Lower Dir, where the attack resulted in the martyrdom of three police officers and left 15 others wounded.

According to reports, militants also torched three police vehicles during the violent confrontation. Authorities subsequently imposed an emergency across hospitals in Lower Dir to manage the influx of injured personnel as the exchange of fire continued.

Only hours later, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the Mirian police station in the city of Bannu. The second attack left at least four officers wounded and caused significant structural damage to the station building and nearby residential areas.

The explosion, heard from a considerable distance, triggered intense, prolonged firing between the assailants and security forces. Reports confirmed that security in the area was tightened immediately following the blast.

Additional police contingents and members of the Police Peace Committee were dispatched to the site to assist in the response. No militant organisation has yet claimed responsibility for the assaults.

Suspicion remains centred on the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a proscribed group that orchestrates violence from sanctuaries located inside Afghanistan. The government in Kabul, however, continues to deny the existence of the cross-border safe havens.
