A rescue operation resumed on Friday morning in Rahim Yar Khan after a woman allegedly jumped into a canal with her four children following a domestic dispute, leaving two children dead and two others missing.

Rescue officials said that the operation was restarted at first light after it had been suspended overnight due to darkness. Teams are continuing to search the canal for the remaining two children.

According to police, the incident occurred after an argument between the woman and her husband over clothes. Investigators said the dispute escalated, prompting the woman to jump into the Guln Canal with her four children.

The woman was rescued alive shortly after entering the water. However, all four children were swept away by the canal’s strong current.

Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two children on Thursday during an extensive search operation. Despite efforts to locate the remaining two children, fading light forced officials to suspend the operation late in the evening.

Rescue authorities said divers and search teams returned to the canal early on Friday to continue the search. Officials have not yet confirmed the identities or ages of the deceased children, while efforts remain focused on locating the two missing siblings.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are gathering statements from family members to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the tragedy. Authorities said the preliminary inquiry suggests the incident followed a domestic disagreement, although further investigation is underway.
