The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi has recommended two officers be dismissed following an internal inquiry into their connections with criminal suspect Anmol Pinky.

Anmol, who also goes by the alias Pinky, was arrested in May from her Garden apartment during a joint raid conducted by the police and a civilian intelligence agency. Her arrest connects to two separate cases involving the possession of narcotics and an unlicensed weapon.

The internal inquiry began after allegations emerged regarding communication between the officers and the suspect. The personnel named for dismissal are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kafeel Awan and Constable Ali Qureshi.

CTD officials completed the investigation and submitted their findings to senior authorities. The report recommends disciplinary action against both individuals, explicitly calling for their removal from service.

During the probe, investigators examined the mobile phone records of the officers and conducted forensic analyses on their digital devices. The inquiry also included a review of their bank account details.

According to the reports, scrutiny on the officers intensified after the arrest of a motorcycle rider who is allegedly associated with Anmol Pinky. Following that arrest, investigators examined the specific nature of the communications and contacts between the officers and the suspect.

The CTD took both Kafeel Awan and Ali Qureshi into custody during the investigation to formally record their statements.

Senior officials are currently reviewing the inquiry report and the accompanying recommendations submitted by the CTD before making a final decision regarding the future employment of the two officers.
