Two young men have drowned at Khanpur Dam on Monday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) while attempting to rescue a friend who had drifted into deep water, rescue sources have said.
Three friends had entered the water when one of them moved into a deeper section. His two companions jumped in to pull him out, but a strong current dragged all three under.
Rescue teams retrieved the bodies of two of the youths from the water. The third was pulled out alive but shifted to Khanpur Hospital in critical condition.
In a separate incident, the body of 18-year-old Tasawwar Ali, who had drowned in Upper Chenab Canal in Sheikhupura, was recovered four days after the incident. He had gone missing while swimming in the canal.
