Unidentified individuals smashed the windows of two vehicles belonging to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in London and stole some of the glass panels.
A spokesperson for the Sharif family told a private news channel that the damage happened two days ago. The spokesperson said that this was the third such incident involving Sharif’s cars in London.
The Metropolitan Police have taken CCTV footage that shows two masked young men removing window glass from the vehicles. Police have not identified the suspects or confirmed their motives. No one has been arrested as yet.
The incident happened during Sharif’s current visit to London, where he is staying at the family’s Avenfield Apartments while attending medical appointments.
Members of the Sharif family have faced several security incidents in the British capital over the years.
In July 2018, protesters tried to force their way into the Avenfield residence, and clashes between rival political supporters led to arrests.
In May 2021, four unidentified men, three of them masked, tried to enter the London office of Sharif’s son Hassan Nawaz while Sharif was inside. PML-N leaders alleged that the men meant to attack him.
In April 2022, a security guard suffered injuries during a confrontation with protesters outside Sharif’s London office. Police confirmed they received an assault complaint.
In May 2023, a protester threw coffee at Sharif’s car and kicked it during a clash between Black Lives Matter protesters and police. In January 2025, British police warned the family about a potentially violent attack.
