Two terrorists have been killed during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Washuk district on Monday, according to security sources cited by state-run Pakistan Television (PTV).

The operation was conducted in the Palantak area of Washuk as part of Operation Radul Fitna against what the state refers to as Fitna al Hindustan, PTV said in a post on X.

According to the state broadcaster, the terrorists killed in the operation were involved in attacks on the Mashkhel police station and the Customs House.

Their vehicle was destroyed during the operation, while a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered.

The Pakistani state has designated Balochistan-based terrorist groups as Fitna al Hindustan, a term it uses to highlight India’s role in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan.

The operation comes amid deteriorating security situation in Balochistan.

Eleven terrorists were killed in separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan last week, according to the report.

According to various studies conducted by think tanks in Pakistan, Balochistan experienced the most significant deterioration in its security situation during July.

A monthly security assessment conducted by a local think tank said the overall death toll in the province increased by 241 per cent, from 109 in June to 372 in July.

The latest operation forms part of continuing security efforts in Balochistan as authorities target terrorist groups operating in the province.
