Two women have allegedly been killed by their husbands in separate incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), police have said.

The first incident was reported in the Merakhail area, where a man has been accused of strangling his wife during a family dispute.

Police have said that the woman’s brother Saleem Khan told them that he was at home when his nephew Umair Alam called and informed him that his maternal aunt was lying dead at her house.

Saleem confirmed that he reached the house and found his sister dead. He alleged that she had been strangled by her husband Asif, a resident of Hussainabad.

Police registered a case and began an investigation.

In the second incident, a woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband after a quarrel in the Hajjiabad area.

The deceased was identified as Rubina. Her brother Nauman Siddiq told local police that he was informed that his sister had been shot by her husband Shah Zaman.

According to the complainant, he reached the scene after receiving the information and found Rubina lying in a pool of blood. He told the police that the shooting appeared to have followed a dispute between the couple.

Police registered a case against Zaman and launched an investigation. The bodies of both women were shifted to hospitals for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man was killed and his teenage son escaped an alleged attempt on his life when armed men opened fire on them in the Mian Palangzai area of Shabqadar, Charsadda KP.

Shabqadar police said that the deceased, identified as Khalid Khan, was travelling with his son when the attackers opened fire.
According to the complaint filed by Khan’s son, his father sustained bullet wounds and died at the scene while he escaped uninjured in the attack. He told police that the motive was a dispute between children.

Police registered a case under Sections 302, 324 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and shifted Khan’s body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Shabqadar, for medico-legal formalities.
