United States (US) Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee’s urgent message from a secure emergency bunker on Monday confirmed that he took refuge during a heavy wave of Iranian missile attacks, going on to highlight the severity of the bombardment by Tehran.
According to Ambassador Huckabee, loud explosions and booms were heard echoing across Jerusalem as air defence systems attempted to neutralise incoming threats. Describing the volatile security environment, Huckabee expressed deep anxiety over the situation, noting that citizens were continuously forced to live under the direct shadow of danger.
Earlier, local Israeli media outlets verified the widespread impact of the aerial assault, reporting that large swathes of the Israeli population were forced to flee into bomb shelters and underground bunkers to escape the incoming fire.
The latest cross-border strikes launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have triggered nationwide missile alerts, forcing the complete closure of schools and the suspension of routine public activities across the country as a necessary precautionary measure.
The sudden escalation breaks a previous two-month regional truce, pushing civilians back into a state of emergency.
