Usman Khan sends notice to Emirates Cricket Board to terminate his contract
Multan Sultans star batsman Usman Khan has sent a notice to Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to terminate his contract.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included Usman Khan in a list of players participating in a fitness camp in Kakul. He performed exceptionally well for Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9), scoring two centuries and a total of 430 runs. This performance caught the attention of the selectors.
Usman has sent a notice to the Emirates Cricket Board to terminate his central contract after legal consultation with the PCB, expressing his desire to establish his future in Pakistan cricket.
Usman Khan made his debut for Karachi Whites in 2017. In four innings of his two first-class matches, he scored 0, 8, 9 and 22 runs respectively. He then moved to the United Arab Emirates for better opportunities.
He was selected for the UAE team until June the following year and was also given a central contract by the Emirates Cricket Board. Last year he represented Gulf Giants in the ILT20 league as a local player. Usman participated in the PSL as a foreign player and arrived in Pakistan after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the ECB.
He was scheduled to return to Dubai after the final but did not go. Meanwhile Usman was in constant touch with PCB. An influential figure of Multan Sultans played an important role in finalizing their affairs. Usman has now sent a notice to the ECB to terminate the contract. Violation of the agreement could result in bans from his participation in future tournaments in the UAE.
He has received an assurance from someone in PCB that he will not only be a part of the series against New Zealand but will also be included in the World Cup squad.
