Tibba Sultanpur police in the Vehari district have arrested an injured suspect who had allegedly raped a minor girl at Chak 124/WB on Friday.
Law enforcement officials reported that the suspect’s own pistol discharged during the pursuit, resulting in injuries to his genitals.
The incident follows an investigation into a report from Thursday, where the suspect allegedly raped a five-year-old girl. According to the police the child was returning to her home after purchasing candies when the assault occurred.
According to the FIR registered on the complaint of the child’s father, the suspect allegedly dragged her forcibly to his drawing room and raped her there.
The suspect fled the scene when local residents gathered outside after hearing the child’s screams.
Following a tip-off, Tibba Sultanpur police raided the suspect's hideout. Law enforcement officials stated that the suspect attempted to flee the scene and while running away, he fell down and his pistol went off in his trousers.
Police reported hearing the gunshot and, upon reaching the suspect, found him in an injured condition.
A 30-bore pistol was recovered from the suspect, who was subsequently shifted to a hospital for medical treatment following his arrest.
