Armed robbers shot and killed a 35-year-old man during a street robbery in Shah Latif Town on Wednesday, police and rescue officials have confirmed.
The victim, Shahzaib Ali, was sitting outside his home near Minhajul Quran Masjid in Sector A-17 when two armed men arrived on a motorcycle and began robbing people in the street.
CCTV footage of the incident showed two men standing beside a motorcycle in the street when the armed riders pulled up. One of the suspects snatched a mobile phone from a young man present at the scene. Shahzaib then got up and approached the robbers, at which point one of the suspects fired directly at him. He collapsed on the ground as the robbers fled. Screams could be heard in the footage after the shooting.
Area Station House Officer (SHO) Mumtaz Marwat said that the robbers demanded cash and other valuables and opened fire when Shahzaib resisted.
He sustained bullet wounds to his chest and was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced him dead.
