Authorities in Malaysia have launched search for a 24-year-old Pakistani national who escaped from custody at the Sungai Buloh Prison.
The suspect, identified as Mohammad Hassan, escaped on April 9 during a transfer following court proceedings in Shah Alam, and faces a series of legal charges, including sexual crimes against children, robbery and violations of immigration laws.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor confirmed that the escape took place as the individual exited a vehicle.
While reports from the Malaysian national news agency, Bernama, indicate that the suspect remains within the country as of April 12, the manhunt involves several specialised units, including the General Operations Force, Air Operations Force and the Internal Security and Public Order Department.
Officials have also reportedly tightened controls at national borders to block any attempt by the suspect to exit Malaysia.
At the time of his escape, Hassan was seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black trousers. Police have classified the individual as dangerous and warned the public against attempting to engage with him directly.
