Indian actor Tiger Shroff has escaped unharmed after gunmen opened fire on his car in Mumbai.
The 36-year-old was targeted on Sunday evening as he left a football club in the suburb of Juhu by car.
Several news outlets have published videos that appear to show at least two gunmen firing multiple shots at close range at the front passenger seat of the car as it moved slowly past a crowd.
Local media reported that two people were injured, including Shroff’s driver.
Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra state, where Mumbai is located, visited Shroff on Sunday evening. He said the actor and his mother were left “shaken” by the attack.
“These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism,” Shinde said.
The incident has heightened concern about the safety of public figures in India, several of whom have been killed or injured in targeted attacks in recent years.
In 2024, police arrested two members of a criminal gang over a gun attack on the home of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. That same year, influential politician Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai.
Shroff, the son of actor Jackie Shroff and his wife Ayesha Shroff, made his acting debut in the 2014 romance film Heropanti and has since starred in several films.
He is also a football enthusiast and plays for the professional club Mumbay FC.
