Indian singer and music composer Vishal Dadlani has posted a video on Instagram addressing a recent NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam paper leak. In his statement, Dadlani expressed solidarity with the affected students and targeted the Indian government over accountability and the educational qualifications of individuals in power.
Dadlani stated that he created the video to speak for students who faced difficulties, lost time, or risked losing an academic year due to the paper leak. He noted that “it is truly wrong that this happens every year” and criticized government agencies for not taking responsibility.
Dadlani said that while ministers claim they will handle the matter, the current situation indicates that education lacks value because those in power do not care and are uneducated themselves.
He urged the public to focus on securing the country’s future by electing educated individuals, stating, “Understand that if you want to secure your future and secure the future of this country, rising above caste, creed, religion, and all these things, then we have to bring the best people forward”.
He concluded by asking voters, “Please do not put illiterate and uneducated people in power whether they belong to your caste or your family.”
The video generated mixed reactions online, with netizens divided over his commentary.
Supporters praised Dadlani for addressing the issue when other figures in the film industry remained silent. One user remarked that Dadlani is “the only A-lister with a spine, courage and integrity,” noting that he speaks without mincing words.
Another commentator stated that politics feels like “low budget Bollywood” and commended Dadlani for speaking up about students and exam scams while leaders avoid accountability.
Additional supportive reactions pointed out that education scams damage the backbone of the country and that students deserve transparency.
One user specifically criticized the ruling BJP government, stating that education ministers since 2014 have offered lectures to students facing pressure instead of improving the exam system.
Conversely, critics rejected Dadlani’s right to lecture the public on voting choices or political matters. One user stated that while citizens will hold the BJP accountable over the scams, they do not need direction from Dadlani.
Another comment questioned his authority to speak on national issues, calling him an “entitled brat,” while another labeled him a “moron”.
Critics also targeted his professional background, with one response alleging that his career was built on “theft of music” and ripping music from other countries.
Others questioned his stance on social issues, claiming he does not understand the struggles of minorities. Additionally, a commenter argued that his criticism of the government should disqualify him from hosting the television show Indian Idol.
