Karachi Police on Wednesday found a 25-year-old man dead in the bushes near a wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, days after he was allegedly kidnapped from PECHS Society.

Police revealed that the man was tortured before being shot dead.

According to reports, the victim, Mir Raza Ali, son of Mir Hassan Ali, lived in PECHS Block 2 and owned the waffle dessert chain Wafflix near Bahadurabad Chowrangi. Police recovered his body from the bushes near Shadi Qila wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 and shifted it to Jinnah hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police said that the body appeared to be one to two days old. Burn marks on part of the body made identification difficult. Raza’s father identified him through his clothes. Police also found a mark on the victim’s back and said that the post-mortem report would determine the exact cause of death.

Police had registered a kidnapping case at Ferozabad Police Station on Tuesday on the complaint of the victim’s father.

According to the FIR [First Information Report], Raza returned home from his shop in his car on the night between July 27 and 28. He told his mother around 4am that he was stepping outside the house for 10 minutes, however, he did not return.

His mother later called his mobile phone, but it was switched off. The family searched for him and contacted Madadgar 15 before registering a kidnapping case against unidentified suspects.

Police are continuing the investigation.
