Veteran Pakistani actor Waseem Abbas has questioned remarks made by YouTubers Rajab Butt and Ducky Bhai about two of Pakistan’s most well-known television stars Fahad Mustafa and Bushra Ansari.
Speaking during a recent interview, Waseem Abbas questioned Ducky Bhai’s earlier claim that he did not know Ansari, saying such statements should not be made about senior artists who have spent decades building Pakistan’s television industry.
The dispute began after Ansari criticised vloggers, saying, “I don’t know who these creatures are making millions and billions of rupees. We live in a different world.”
Asked about her comments on a podcast, Ducky Bhai responded, “I don’t know Bushra Ansari. I only know her face, and I know she is an actress.” He went on to say that actors were suffering from an inferiority complex.
Waseem acknowledged that Ansari’s remarks reflected the perspective of artists who dedicated years of hard work to the industry before achieving recognition, and said that her comments should not have been taken as a personal attack.
Even if someone disagreed with her opinion, he argued, it was not serious enough to justify disrespecting her.
He then turned to the separate exchange between Butt and Mustafa. “Who knows Rajab Butt? Fahad Mustafa is Pakistan’s biggest hero. He is one of the industry’s biggest success stories. If someone doesn’t know Fahad Mustafa, he must have been living in a jungle.”
“I can bet that I haven’t seen a single video or clip of Rajab Butt. Are you in your senses? He is known all over Pakistan because of Jeeto Pakistan,” he added.
At the same time, Waseem acknowledged Butt’s own standing in the digital space.
“Rajab Butt may definitely be a bigger YouTube star, and I don’t deny that,” he said, before weighing in on how the exchange between the two played out. “However, Fahad Mustafa also shouldn’t have said that family vloggers are selling their families. Even if he did say it, Rajab should have replied in a softer tone.”
