Actress Fatima Effendi mentioned in an interview in 2015 that she rejected a film’s offer by Bollywood director Anees Bazmee who has blockbuster movies like Singh Is Kinng and Welcome in his filmography.
The acclaimed director was then casting for his film Welcome Back which featured John Abraham, Shruti Hassan, Anil Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Nana Patekar amongst others.
Express Tribune reported that the Munafiq diva didn’t want to be a source of shame for her family and country as the role required her to wear bold attires and perform uncomfortable scenes.
Fatima stated that, “Anees Bazmee called me and praised my drama serial and asked me to work in his film. I asked him about the story and the character I’d portray, but refused to sign the movie because it required me to play a bold character”.
She added that, “I’ve never faced any restrictions from my family about working in Bollywood movies, but I’ve always known my limits. That’s why I never do anything that may be shameful for me or my family,” she further said. “I may be from the entertainment industry, but I’m always careful when selecting my wardrobe”.
Although she never named the project but the said director was only working on this comic caper back then as he had no film release several years prior and after the release of this film.
On the work front the talented actress was last seen in Geo Entertainment’s Main Agar Chup Hoon opposite Adeel Chaudhry.
