The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rejected the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) offer to host the Women’s T20 World Cup, which was initially scheduled to be held in Bangladesh this year.

“They [ICC] have asked us if we would conduct the World Cup. I have categorically said no,” Secretary BCCI J Shah told Times of India. “We’re in the monsoon and on top of that we will host the Women’s ODI World Cup next year. I don’t want to give any kind of signals that I want to hold consecutive World Cups.”

Meanwhile, the ICC is monitoring the situation in Bangladesh.

A final decision on whether to shift the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup from Bangladesh is expected by August 20.

The Women’s T20 World Cup was originally scheduled to take place in Bangladesh from October 3 to October 20, but amid the current political climate in the country, it is no longer considered suitable to hold the event there.
