A woman from Dera Ismail Khan has secured relief from the Supreme Court (SC) after being deprived of her inherited property for nearly 50 years.
The court rejected the opposing party’s application and ordered the implementation of its 2022 judgment in favour of Zaitoon Bibi.
A three-member bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan and Justice Salahuddin Panhwar heard the case. Justice Panhwar authored the judgment.
Zaitoon Bibi’s father died in 1976 and she had remained deprived of her share in the inherited property since then.
The Supreme Court had already dismissed the opposing party’s review petition in 2024, but the court noted that its earlier orders had still not been implemented.
The court expressed displeasure over the failure to comply with its orders and said that the judicial system rests on trust, discipline and respect for judicial orders.
It said that parties must follow judicial orders in all circumstances and directed the implementation of the 2022 judgment in Zaitoon Bibi’s favour.
