Pakistani actor Yasir Hussain has reacted to Indian news anchor Arnab Goswami’s conduct during a recent broadcast, stating that he should feel ashamed for appearing disrespectful and that his behaviour seems like that of someone without any dignity.

“Sharminda hojana chahie, warna insaan beghairat dikhta hai arnab ghooskhry ki tarah [One must feel shame otherwise you seem shameless like Arnab],” he wrote in an Instagram story, sharing a clip of the anchor in conversation with Chinese expert Victor Gao.

The clip showed Gao praising Pakistan’s role in brokering peace between Iran and the United States (US) as the two discussed developments in the region.

“What do you think happened between destroying global civilization and chickening out with the unilateral ceasefire?” Goswami asked, to which Gao attempted to respond, starting with, “Thank you very much for having me. First of all, let’s give a lot of credit to Pakistan for the…” when the anchor interrupted repeatedly.

“Blah blah blah, come on Victor Gao, come on Victor Gao,” Goswami said, not giving Gao the opportunity to complete his answer.

Netizens reacted to the exchange across social media platforms. Many questioned why media outlets invite guests if they do not intend to let them speak. “Why do they invite people and then not let them talk,” one person posted.

Another stated, “They must show respect to others.”

Several users pointed out the underlying tensions. “If jealousy had a face, this is it,” one commenter noted. Others mentioned the intensity of the reaction.

“There’s so much poison in Indian minds right now,” someone wrote, adding that Indian media was “crying in pain”.

Several reactions also highlighted what they saw as a lack of professionalism. “He has no dignity,” one person stated. Another wrote, “They have completely forgotten about professionalism.”

One viewer went on to suggest that Goswami be banned for being so disrespectful.

“The standard of Indian media has fallen to this level,” several agreed.
