Yumna Zaidi wins Best Actress award for ‘Nayab’ at South Asian International Film Festival
Renowned actress Yumna Zaidi has been honoured with the Best Actress Award for her debut film Nayab at the South Asian International Film Festival Florida in the United States.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Yumna expressed gratitude as her film Nayab also won the Best Feature Film Award at the same festival.
This marks another achievement for Nayab, which previously won two awards at the World Cannes Film Festival in France in May 2024. Filmmaker Umair Nasir Ali won Best Filmmaker, and the film was recognised as Best Foreign Film.
Now, with two more awards from the US festival, Nayab continues to shine on the global stage.
Released in January 2024, Nayab received critical acclaim and performed well at the box office.
Yumna Zaidi plays Nayab, a young girl from Karachi who dreams of becoming a cricketer but faces challenges amid family and societal pressures.
The film also features Javed Sheikh, Adnan Siddiqui, Osama Khan, Muhammad Fawad Khan, and Faryal Mehmood. Javed Sheikh portrays Nayab’s father, who opposes her cricket ambitions, while Muhammad Fawad Khan plays her supportive brother, helping her achieve her dream of making it to the national team.
