President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s cordial relations with North Korea while felicitating leader Kim Jong Un and the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the 78th anniversary of its founding.

“Pakistan and the DPRK enjoy cordial relations based on mutual trust and goodwill,” Zardari said in the message posted to the official X account of the president.

He expressed confidence that bilateral ties between Islamabad and Pyongyang would continue to strengthen in the coming years for the benefit of both countries.

“I am confident that bilateral relations between the two countries will continue to strengthen in the years ahead for the mutual benefit of both nations,” he added.

While presidential greetings on foreign founding anniversaries are standard diplomatic protocol, official state felicitation messages to isolated or heavily sanctioned regimes like Pyongyang are routinely accompanied by strict controls on social media engagement to preempt polarising public backlash, geopolitical trolling and PR hazards.
