British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik has raised awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, sharing a UNICEF post with his 51 million followers on Instagram and urging them to donate in support of Palestinian children and families.

The post detailed how four children had been killed and how separate strikes had destroyed a warehouse full of UNICEF nutrition supplies and badly damaged a UNICEF-supported water facility. It called for children and the infrastructure they rely on to be protected.

This is not the first time Zayn has spoken out on the issue. In May 2021, he posted a message on social media declaring his solidarity with the Palestinian people and calling for an end to the violence, writing that the world could not stay silent while children lost their lives and their families.

He has also promoted the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund on his Instagram in the past and donated to a campaign supporting urgent relief for Gaza’s children.

Earlier this year, while Zayn recovered in hospital from a heart condition, his family asked fans sending well wishes to instead donate to a Palestine-focused charity on his behalf, a request that raised more than £27,000.

Gaza has faced a devastating humanitarian catastrophe since the genocide that began on October 7, 2023. According to Gaza’s health ministry, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been martyred and over 174,000 injured as of late August 2026, despite a ceasefire that has been in place since October 2025.

Zayn Malik, born Zain Javadd Malik in Bradford in 1993 to a Pakistani father and an English mother, first found fame in 2010 as a member of the boy band One Direction, formed on the UK talent show The X Factor.

The group became one of the best-selling boy bands in music history before Zayn left in 2015 to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album, Mind of Mine, topped the charts in both the UK and the US, making him the first British male artist to achieve that feat with a debut release.

He has continued to release music as a solo artist since, most recently with his fifth studio album Konnakol, in 2026.
