Aurangzeb Taseer, an 11-year-old Pakistani fighter, has won the opening bout at the International Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Cup, finishing the contest in two minutes.
Taseer, representing Pakistan at the tournament, beat his opponent well before the final bell.
He will next face Uzbekistan’s Davlatbek Alomov. A win in that bout will send him into the next round of the tournament.
More than 1,000 athletes from 82 countries are taking part in the event. A title win would give Pakistan its first-ever International Mixed Martial Arts World Cup championship.
Taseer is the son of Marriyum Aurangzeb, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Punjab’s Senior Minister, and businessman Aly Taseer.
Earlier this year, Taseer won a fight by knockout at the Pakistan MMA Federation’s Contender Series. That result earned him a place at the IMMAF Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi.
