England has defeated Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs in the opening Test of a three-match series at Headingley on Friday.
Trailing by 238 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 135 in their second innings, handing England a convincing victory.
Pakistan had been dismissed for 171 in their first innings, before England posted 409 to take a 238-run lead.
Harry Brook top-scored for England with 91, while Jordan Cox made 73 on his Test debut. Joe Root scored 66 and Dan Lawrence added 51 as England built a commanding total.
Ali Usman was Pakistan’s leading bowler with 5 for 95, while Khurram Shahzad claimed three wickets.
Pakistan struggled again in their second innings, with Mohammad Rizwan top-scoring with 41 and Shan Masood making 29.
Jofra Archer, Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue took three wickets each as England bowled Pakistan out for 135 in 37.3 overs.
The victory gives England a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
