Ahsan Khan reacts to claims about THAT medicine scene
In a candid interview with The Current, actor Ahsan Khan has shared his thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding a scene in his drama Daayan involving a reference to what viewers assumed was Viagra.
During the interview, the host quoted a conversation from the show Kya Drama Hai, where actresses Atiqa Odho, Marina Khan, and Nadia Khan, while discussing Daayan, assumed that the medicine mentioned in the scene is typically given to men to help them treat erectile dysfunction.
Surprised, Ahsan immediately replied, laughing, "What the hell are you talking about?" When the host asked if he had or had not seen the show, he responded, "I have seen it. I’ll explain to you."
He then clarified the origin of the controversy, explaining the plot in which Nihaal, played by Mehwish Hayat, grows closer to Zawar Shah, played by Ahsan Khan, after a marriage is arranged between them.
"So the first time she comes near me... the maid tells her to give 'sir' [Ahsan Khan] medicine for his headache. This is said clearly," Ahsan Khan stated.
He clarified that no reference to Viagra was intended, but some viewers misunderstood it. "Using the excuse of a headache medicine, she brings a glass of water to me. So maybe because of that [they misunderstood]," he added.
Alluding to the viral memes made about the scene, he said, "In fact, it became a little embarrassing because memes started circulating. And on those memes... I don’t want to name it, but whatever 'improvement medicine' it is... [they] used its tag and put my face on it and Shabab’s too."
Addressing comments made by senior artists Atiqa Odho, Marina Khan, Nadia Khan, and Muqarram, he said, "Whatever Atiqa, Marina, Nadia said — I mean, I love Atiqa, Marina, and Nadia. They are like my colleagues, and Muqarram also — but they said it funnily, but didn’t say too much, I think."
When asked how he deals with such controversies, Ahsan responded thoughtfully: "Actually, usually I feel that our social media life is one or two days long... Anything that goes viral on social media doesn’t last long. So, mostly I ignore it, unless and until it’s personally harming your reputation or your family’s reputation."
Reflecting on the entire experience, Ahsan concluded with a smile, "When you hear so many good comments, then even if a little controversy comes or something funny happens, I... I enjoyed it, by the way."
In an episode of Kya Baat Hai aired two weeks ago, Nadia Khan and Atiqa Odho discussed the much-talked-about medicine scene from the drama Daayan.
Nadia Khan jokingly said, "Ahsan Khan told us about the headache medicine, but it sounded a bit strange," to which Atiqa Odho responded, "But he is young; he doesn’t need Viagra."
Nadia then added with a laugh, "I know, they are happy, they have a happy marriage, so obviously that means the bedroom scene must be fine."
