Pakistan’s veteran tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has clinched the mixed doubles title at the ITF Masters World Championship in Lisbon.
Aisam paired up with Austria’s Nina Hermann to win the world title. In the final, the pair defeated top seeds Fred Gil and Rita Freitas of Portugal 6-4, 6-3.
On the other hand, in the men’s doubles final, Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan lost to France’s Jacques Guele and Jean-Baptiste Renault.
Pakistan finished the championships with a total of four medals, comprising one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Aqeel Khan won a bronze medal in the 40+ mixed doubles category alongside Germany’s Elaine Aranas Roth. Meanwhile, the pairing of Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan secured a silver medal in the men’s 45+ doubles category.
Aisam’s latest triumph marks another memorable performance for Pakistan tennis, further strengthening the country’s standing on the international stage.
