Pakistan’s Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem has decided to skip the Lausanne Diamond League and travel to South Africa instead for training ahead of his next major competitions.
According to reports, Nadeem will not compete at the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21 despite initially appearing on the entry list for the event.
The Wanda Diamond League has confirmed Lausanne for August 21 as part of the 2026 series.
Reports added that Nadeem plans to train in South Africa, where he has previously completed training camps. He will travel as soon as he receives a visa and secures the first available flight.
After his training camp, Nadeem is expected to compete at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest. World Athletics has scheduled the inaugural event for September 11 to 13, with the men’s javelin final set for September 13.
Nadeem recently competed at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He qualified for the javelin final with a best throw of 78.63 metres but finished ninth overall after failing to reach the final three rounds.
He later said that the cold Glasgow conditions affected his performance.
