Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been seen practicing in the nets, in what is being termed as a positive sign ahead of the second Test against England at Lord’s.
A video circulating on social media has shown Babar batting in the nets, appearing to be moving comfortably without any bandage on the finger that kept him out of the series opener last week.
Earlier, Babar missed Pakistan’s first Test against England at Headingley because of a finger injury. Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat, losing by an innings and 103 runs after England took a 238-run first-innings lead.
After the debacle, reports said, Pakistan’s team management is also considering changes to the playing XI as it assesses the conditions in London before finalising the squad.
Reports have also suggested that wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan could be rested, while Babar is hopeful of returning after recovering from his finger injury.
If Babar returns, top-order batter Azan Awais could make way, reports added.
Pakistan are also considering changes to their bowling combination. The team could select two specialist spinners if the conditions suit them, while right-arm fast bowler Ubaid Shah is also reportedly in contention.
The final playing XI will depend on the team management’s assessment of the conditions at Lord’s.
The second Test is scheduled to begin on August 27.
