Lahore Police have arrested a woman for allegedly assaulting her four-year-old son in Sadiqabad after a video showing the child being beaten circulated on social media, District Police Officer (DPO) Irfan Ali Samo said.
The suspect, identified as Neelam, was arrested during a raid in the Hajveri area of Lahore, where she had been hiding for three days, according to the DPO.
Samo said that the woman allegedly assaulted the child with kicks, sticks and a sharp-edged object at their home in Noor Colony, Sadiqabad. Police took the child into protective custody after the video went viral and launched an investigation into the incident.
City Police registered a case and formed two teams to track down the suspect, the DPO added. Police continued searching for Neelam before arresting her in Lahore.
Samo said that police were bringing the suspect back to Sadiqabad, where they will present her before a court.
The DPO also commended the police team for arresting the suspect.
