The couple were linked together by hearts from two neighboring Long Island towns.

In retrospect, Macchio commented on the gathering: "This is 1970 or whatever, so this is Cheez Doodles, 7Up, Tootsie Rolls, and probably the Ruffles with onion dip. She was my cousin's friend, and we just smiled and talked and danced a little. Probably the Hustle!"

Fierro's take on this was slightly different. He recalls, "The first time I saw these big, dark brown eyes, I felt a natural bond." This was in 2009 when he spoke to PEOPLE.

Fierro And Macchio Got Married in 1987

Macchio and Fierro became husbands and wives in August 1987. The couple tied the knot less than a year after the release of Karate Kid II. Macchio once stated that his wife is his best friend, and there is no doubt about it. He also said that it would indeed be the lady he was willing to spend his life with through the thick and thin of life. Moreover, Macchio and Fierro stepped into the marriage union after he proposed to her on Valentine's Day.

All that Macchio has worked for and earned bears fruit as he approaches his wife after almost four decades of togetherness. The couple welcomed their daughter, Julia Macchio, in 1992. After four years, they welcomed their son, Daniel Macchio. They became a family of four and are happily living together.

Taking notes from her father, Julia took on any opportunity to act. She was offered a role in her father's sequel, Cobra Kai. There, she played a character who was the cousin of her father's character, Daniel LaRusso. They both told PEOPLE about their on-screen experience in a show they both directed in 2022.

Everyone on set that day looked at me and said, 'Wow! She smashed it all to pieces! Macchio proudly stated, "That was the day I got to wear the cap of a proud father as Julia went ahead and ran our very first take."

Daniel has worked in sports throughout his career. Eli Manning of the New York Giants previously played for the New York Islanders, where he worked as a BA. He currently works for the New York Islanders. Not only does he work there, but he also enjoys various sports events.

The Adoption of Oliver and Their Growing Family

Ginger was the Macchio family dog. When she died, Macchio doubted he would want another dog. "I remember Ginger as the one household member who grew along with my kids. As such, when she passed away, things were terrible," he told PEOPLE. But then Fierro sent him a photo of a Yorkshire terrier, and everything changed, so he changed his mind. "I said, 'Okay, let's find out more information,' I asked," he later retold.

"We once again set off for the other end. The puppy came out and began licking me. It looked in my direction with the most intense gaze. It's like a torque had to be applied." It was love at first lick for him." Macchio and his family welcomed Oliver home. He believes he got lucky as Oliver is not as aggressive or overbearing. "He is a tad bit clingy," Macchio joked with PEOPLE.

Moreover, Macchio has never rescued an animal from a shelter. However, since living with Oliver, he claims to have been one of the 'converted' ones. "Thanks to FaceTime and Zoom, it's easier. Before that, there used to be telephone calls," says Macchio. "These days, you can actually see one another and, once in a while, have Sunday dinner."

The actor also understood that he must actively engage in relationships when returning home. This was the lesson in season 3 when he returned after being away for five months.

"Life on my own was enjoyable," he says with a laugh. "You had to back off and think, Oh, no, I'm not the lord of each chamber within this castle. I need to be more of a giver."
