Teresa Youngblut Arrested for Shooting US Border Patrol Agent
Tactical gear and deadly weapons were carried by the suspects in the shootout that killed a U.S. border patrol agent in northern Vermont. The suspects were Teresa Youngblut, a Washington State resident who suffered a bullet wound, and Felix Bauckholt, a German national, who died in the exchange. Border Patrol agent David “Chris” Maland died in that NY-11 highway gunfight near the Canadian border. The court document doesn't explain if Maland was shot by one of Youngblut's bullets or shot by an agent.
Teresa Youngblut is on trial in federal court. She is facing multiple charges, including using a deadly weapon or other means to kill and attacking a federal law enforcement officer with a weapon. This information comes from court documents obtained by NBC5.
Shots Fired During Traffic Stop
The FBI report states that Maland and several other border patrol agents in three marked vehicles stopped a blue Toyota Prius driven by Teresa Youngblut. Felix Baukholt was in the passenger seat. He was found to have an expired visa in the Department of Homeland Security database.
However, it was reported that both Teresa Youngblut and Baukholt were carrying weapons at the other agent's location. Youngblut pointed a handgun at at least one of the agents during the traffic stop. During the incident, it was also reported that Baukholt attempted to grab his firearm.
Teresa Youngblut has been reported to have fired two rounds while the Border Patrol agents let loose a total of seven rounds each. From the documentation, it can be ascertained that a minimum of one Border Patrol agent fired back at Youngblut using their service pistol.
