Pakistan Customs officials have seized more than 50,000 tablets and doses of prohibited medicines worth approximately Rs80 lakh from a woman arriving at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport from Muscat.

According to Customs officials, the woman was carrying a large quantity of medicines in her luggage, allegedly concealing them to avoid detection.

Officials said that the passenger did not have the required approval or No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) to bring the medicines into the country.

Customs officials took the medicines into their custody and detained the woman for further questioning.

Investigators are examining the case to determine where the medicines were sourced from and where the passenger intended to take them.

The authorities have not disclosed the woman’s identity or the names and types of medicines recovered.
