The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) is conducting a forensic analysis of mobile phones belonging to cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan, according to media reports.
Reports said that the investigation is primarily focused on financial matters and suspicious transactions, with the two players’ bank accounts also being examined, including their financial dealings before and after the England series.
According to the reports, transactions in both players’ bank accounts during the relevant period are being reviewed. Investigators are also trying to establish where the money came from and where it was transferred, while suspicious payments made by any company, individual or institution linked to the players are also being examined.
Reports said that data retrieved from the mobile phones is being cross-checked against the financial investigation, with messages, contacts and other digital information also undergoing forensic analysis.
An important aspect of the investigation involves alleged dressing room leaks during the England series.
According to the reports, Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore yesterday.
Reports also said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier collected the cricketers’ mobile phones and handed them over to the relevant authorities.
