Former South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn took to X after the first day of the second Test between Pakistan and England at Lord’s on Thursday to comment on Mohammad Ali’s bowling action.
Steyn wrote, “A lot of Ali’s action reminds me of Marcus Stoinis. The run up, the gather, similar pace. I’d love to ask him if he based himself off Stoin by any chance.” He then added, “Anyone else notice that?”
Mohammad Ali impressed with the ball on the opening day of the Lord’s Test. He picked up three wickets for 67 runs as Pakistan shared the new ball duties between him and Mohammad Abbas, who claimed four wickets.
Ali removed Harry Brook, Jamie Smith and Ollie Robinson during the course of the innings.
England reached 248 for 9 when bad light ended play, with Smith top-scoring on 61 and Jordan Cox adding 55.
