Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor has spoken about the realities of making it to the entertainment industry before the existence of social media.

In a recent YouTube video, the actor reflected on how he launched his career without any of the digital platforms that now make self-promotion effortless.

“When I started, there was no Instagram and no Facebook. I don’t think Facebook even existed at that time, or it had just begun. There were no reels, and I remember YouTube was not there either. So we really had to go through the actual struggle,” he said.

He described the process as entirely physical and personal. “We had to go to every production house ourselves, visit different places, and submit our DVDs personally. We had to tell them that we also had talent and could work.”

Taimoor, however, ended on a note of encouragement for new talent.

“But mark my words, if you have talent, it does not stay hidden. Someone will find you, even if you are sitting at home… if you are truly capable,” he said.

Taimoor began his acting career in 2005 with the horror drama Mystery Series on Indus Vision, long before he became a household name.

His top dramas include Rehaai (2013), Ab Dekh Khuda Kya Karta Hai (2018–19), Deewangi (2019–20), Ishq Hai (2021) and Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi (2022).

Deewangi, in which he played Sultan Durrani, became a turning point that brought him mass popularity. Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi broke several records and became one of the first Pakistani dramas to achieve 1 billion views, with its first episode also crossing 110 million views.

He holds a unique distinction in Pakistani television, being the only actor with two dramas that have each crossed 2 billion views on YouTube. Jaan Nisar, which aired on Geo TV in 2024, was the second drama to cross that mark.
