Child star Umer Shah, who won hearts across the nation through his appearances on Shan-e-Ramzan and Jeeto Pakistan besides viral social media videos with his elder brother Ahmad Shah, was laid to rest in Dera Ismail Khan’s Zakhori Sharif graveyard.

As per the details, funeral prayers for the young star were offered on Daraban Road and attended by a large number of relatives, friends and locals, all deeply shaken by the sudden tragedy. Umer’s school staff paid tribute by placing a bouquet on his grave, describing his passing as a great loss. They expressed profound sorrow over the untimely death of a child known for his innocent smile and playful spirit.

His uncle and mentor Daniyal Shah said Umer’s health took a sudden turn for the worse on Sunday night and he was rushed to the hospital where he began vomiting, causing fluid to enter his lungs — a condition that ultimately led to his tragic passing. Daniyal also revealed that a poisonous snake had been found and killed in the house earlier.

The news was first confirmed by Umer’s elder brother, Ahmed Shah, through a post on his official social media account, leaving fans and followers in a state of disbelief and sorrow.

As the country mourns, tributes have poured in from celebrities who had worked with Umer or grown fond of him over the years. The entire entertainment industry is united in grief.

Kubra Khan, who appeared alongside Umer on the same game show, shared a deeply emotional tribute on her Instagram, “Some news just doesn’t process… it doesn’t wrap around your head. Sweet Umer, the quiet, shy one — the keeper of our treasure box. He would always bring out chocolates and sweets for me and blow kisses from afar with a shy smile.”

“I pray you’re smiling right now too, because I know you’re in the best of places. No treasure box will ever be the same. You will remain in our hearts and prayers. Always.”

Morning show host Nida Yasir posted heartfelt videos from her show featuring the Shah brothers, with one video showing little Umer sitting in her lap. “Umer, you will always be remembered with a smiling face. You will live in our hearts forever, dear Umer. Rest in peace,” she said.

Actress Sonya Hussyn reflected on the spiritual and unseen dimensions of such tragedies, sharing a deeply personal note on the possible role of the evil eye. “There are fifteen causes of death, one of which is the evil eye and one is envy. These can harm a person, even cause death.”

“’Al-Ayn is true’, the evil eye is real. I’m honestly in shock. I can’t even process this. This is heartbreaking beyond words. Praying for strength and peace for the family. Can’t imagine what they are going through.”
