Punjab government's Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has expressed regret over the ban on Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s hit film Dangal, during her appearance on a podcast hosted by comedian and actor Ahmed Ali Butt.
While discussing various topics, the host asked her, “What is a compromise that you should not have made?”
In response, Marriyum Aurangzeb said, “The film Dangal should not have been banned.”
Surprised by her answer, Ahmed Ali Butt asked for clarification, saying, “You have brought up something very old, why did you ban it then?”
Explaining her decision, the minister said, “I had not seen that film. I had become the Information Minister on the same day, and in the meeting we held with the Censor Board, the reasons for banning the film were given, and based on that, Dangal was banned.”
She added, “Anyway, Indian films were already banned at that time.”
Marriyum Aurangzeb concluded by saying, “When I saw the film after a year and a half, I realized that it should not have been banned. I still regret it.”
