Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) is planning to construct a high-rise aviation and office complex in Islamabad’s Blue Area, on a 9,000 square yard plot owned by the authority.

According to a document issued by the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (PEPA), the proposed multi-storey structure is envisioned as an aviation complex that will accommodate PAA offices, airline headquarters, and a range of commercial and public facilities.

These include business and conference spaces, banks, recreational and fitness areas, an aviation museum, an art gallery, a daycare centre, food courts and hotel accommodation.

PEPA has recently issued a public notice seeking comments from stakeholders and members of the public. A public hearing on the project has been scheduled for May 18 at Crown Hotel in Islamabad.

The project, if completed as planned, is expected to become one of the tallest buildings in the federal capital.

Islamabad already has several high-rise developments, including the under-construction Garden Residential Apartment Project in F-10 Markaz, which is expected to rise to 470 feet with 42 storeys. Centaurus Mall stands at around 335 feet with 29 floors, while One Constitution Avenue also features among the city’s taller buildings with 23 storeys.

Officials at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that the building plan for the PAA project has already been approved. A CDA official said that they could not confirm whether the structure would become the tallest in the city, but confirmed that the plan has been cleared for construction.
