Looks like we’re going to continue reading (and writing) about Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain’s engagement which happened at the Lux Style Awards while thousands of people were watching.

While the country appears to be divided over the proposal, Hamza Ali Abbasi stepped in to defend the couple and asked the public not to bash them for their actions, supporting his argument with verses from the Quran. And now Hamza has invited the wrath of other members of the industry who are criticising him for quoting the Quran.

Feroze Khan, who took the award for Best Actor Viewers Choice for Khaani, took a jibe at Hamza for his comments and asked him to avoid bringing “Islam, Allah and Rusool (SAW)” into such topics of conversation.

He later also added that “we are no one to judge anyone.”

Earlier Veena Malik had criticised Hamza’s statement on Yasir and Iqra’s engagement and had accused him of ‘defending kissing before nikkah. In a lenghty note posted to Twitter, she had said that she had a lot of respect for Hamza but “then these tweets come up.” She said that while she agrees that Yasir and Iqra are doing the right thing by getting married but “how the proposal ended wasn’t appropriate as the act was utterly uncultured.”

I am working in the Pakistan industry after a long break almost 9 years.I met Hamza Ali Abbasi Sahab on #PakistanStar set & became acquaintance. What I know about him so far that he is someone who is upright, high principled, virtuous & impressed me so much in all walks of life be it his acting, hosting, judging but his thoughts which he usually tweet & always takes stand 4 the right and always clearly call out wrong. Also just recently saw a video of urs on God which made me realize that u are insightful, cultured & enlightened and then this tweets come up.Nowhere in our Religion & quran it is written tht u can hug & kiss before Nikkah.I think we should not bring religion 2 support their PDA. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Ofcourse, congratulations to the couple and so happy for that they'll get married & preferred Halal over Haram but how the proposal ended wasn't appropriate as the act was utterly uncultured. We live in a Muslim country our Religion & culture both doesn't allow that & such acts r looked down upon.U rightly said that this era is not like the previous1 now u have to show alot of more responsibility & moral ethics towards society. This PDA doesn't represent our moral & cultural values, let alone religious.Every Media personality have a responsibility towards society, people follow them. So,they r not supposed to set wrong examples 4 the masses. U are talking about Haram and Halal & yet defending the kisses before Nikkah? If someone is following islam and doing Nikah then why doing Haram before Nikah? Even for some Halal acts you can't go public so they should have been a little careful!! #VeenaMalik #HamzaAliAbbasi #IqraAziz #YasirHussain
