Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has dismissed reports that he plans to enter the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 auction on a British passport.

Amir clarified his stance on X on Monday, writing, “Hi everyone just wanted to clarify news regarding IPL is not true.”

Earlier, Indian media reported that Amir, who now has a British passport, could put his name down for the auction on December 16 in Goa. The reports said that a UK citizen may not need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to register. Pakistani players have not played in the IPL since the inaugural season.

Reports added that if a franchise signed Amir, he would become the second former Pakistan international to play in the IPL on a British passport, after Azhar Mahmood, who played in the 2012, 2013 and 2015 seasons.

The reports also said Amir, who now lives in England, had registered for the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) draft as a UK national.

However, the former fast bowler has not commented on the APL registration yet.
